Tokyo in 10 Days!

I've wanted to go to Japan since I was in middle school and I can't believe I'm finally going to go! Japan is like a magical place in my mind where all my wildest dreams will come true. Also some of my nightmares. Cosplayers in the park! Maid cafes! Toilet, prison, and vampire restaurants! 48-member girl band concerts! Insane shopping! TOKYO!

I'm going on this trip with my friend Tony. Unfortunately no one else really wanted to come with us (everyone wanted to go somewhere tropical for their vacation, which I can totally understand, but... come on! It's TOKYO!) so it will just be the two of us... Luckily Tony likes to shop and is down for doing really weird stuff, so I'm sure it will be a lot of fun! Plus the weather in Tokyo is still much warmer than in Seoul, so I might not even bring my winter coat.

Things I am excited for in Tokyo that I may have already mentioned but will do so again:

THE POKEMON CENTRE
Rilakkuma/Hello Kitty mega-stores
Akihabara
Harajuku shopping
Taking pictures of the cosplayers and Lolitas in the park
Weird theme cafes (toilet, Alice in Wonderland, puppets, vampires, and prison, to name a few)
Tokyo Tower
The Miyazaki Museum
An AKB48 concert
Staying in a capsule hotel! (Man, I can clearly remember the moment I decided I needed to sleep in a microwave. There was a 1994 Nickelodeon magazine about weird hotels that featured Tokyo's capsule rooms. See how long this dream has been building up???!)

I'll probably try to squeeze a palace and museum or two in there as well. I'm really excited to see all the shopping areas but I should really save money and I've heard shopping in Tokyo is really expensive so I probably won't bring too much home.

All I have to do is survive 3 more days at school. Luckily, I don't have to teach since it's a weird end-of-the-semester week, but sitting at my desk for 8 hours a day doing nothing gets really boring.

If anyone knows any other cool places in Tokyo I didn't mention, let me know! I don't want to miss anything awesome.

Also, if you're planning on booking a flight out of Korea in the future, let me know and I can direct you to a Korean travel site with an English website and English-speaking staff. Their rates were half of what Orbitz was charing for the same flight.
